DHAULI SHANTI STUPA
Peace pagoda and former battle seat of the Kalinga kingdom built on the Dhauli hills overlooking the valley
This pagoda of peace was built in 1972 by Japanese Buddhists. It is a large chörten built on the hills of Dhauli and dominating the valley. Note that this site is famous for having been the seat of battles of the Kalinga kingdom, as evidenced by the inscriptions engraved on stone. Be careful, not very honest Hindu priests do not hesitate to lure you for a blessing. They recite a prayer at full speed and bless all your ancestors and descendants. It would be charming if the priest didn't ask you for a good ticket at the end.
