KHONOMA VILLAGE
Visit this village of 3,000 souls for its unique history and the charm of its stone structures, 7 forts and cobbled roads
Inhabited by the Angami tribe for 700 years, this village of 3,000 souls has a unique historical dimension: two fierce battles took place here between the Nagas and the British, first in 1870 and then in 1956 during the Naga-India war. It was here that the Nagaland independence movement was born. Surrounded by paddy fields, the village has a certain charm with its stone structures, its seven forts and its paved roads. Forestry and hunting are banned. The population is mainly farmer.
