RANG GHAR
One of the oldest amphitheaters in Asia, located near the Talatal Ghar and host to the Bohag Bihu ethnic festival in April.
Built during the reign of Pramatta Singha (1744-1750), it is one of the oldest amphitheaters in Asia. Located near the Talatal Ghar, it is enthroned in the middle of a large lawn. Its roof has the shape of a boat hull upside down. It is here that the kings of Ahom and the nobility of the time attended sporting events, including buffalo fights. The site hosts the Bohag Bihu ethnic festival in April. The architecture of the entrance to the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Cultural Center in Guwahati was inspired by this monument.
