RESIDENZ KEMPTEN
The hall of the princes, with its stuccoed walls, and the state rooms, with their rococo decor, are a feast for the eyes.
Together with the Basilica of St. Lawrence, the Kempten residence is an impressive testimony to the prosperity of the Catholic monastic town in the 17th century. The prince abbots turned it into a rococo palace that is unique in southern Germany. The residence was both a Benedictine monastery and the seat of the prince-abbots(Fürstäbte). Between the sacred and the secular, the hall of the princes with its stuccoed walls and the ceremonial rooms with their remarkable rococo decoration are a feast for the eyes.
