PARQUE NACIONAL LA MALINCHE
Volcano that is part of the Anahuac neovolcanic mountain range, whose last eruption was more than 3,000 years ago
La Malinche volcano (4,460 meters) is part of the Anahuac neovolcanic mountain range; its last eruption was over 3,000 years ago. As soon as the slope rises, a magnificent forest of high conifers gives way to fields of corn and beans. From its heights, you can see the Orizaba peak as well as Iztachihuatl and Popocatepetl. To climb, arrive at the refuge early in the morning and begin the ascent. The round trip to the summit takes about ten hours.
