BHADRA MARUTI TEMPLE
One of only 3 temples in India to house a reclining Hanuman idol, a place that will delight fans of Hindu curiosities
If the temple presents an architectural structure hardly interesting, it will nevertheless delight the amateurs of Hindu curiosities. It is one of the three temples in India to house an idol of Hanuman in samadhi (lying down) position. Legend has it that King Bhadrasena was a devotee of the god Rama. While he was singing a song to his glory, Hanuman came to rest and listen to the melody. The idol, a stone painted in orange, the color representing Hanuman, looks like a large pouch of fish eggs. A trident is painted between its two eyes.
