AÉROPORT INTERNATIONAL DE BAHREÏN
Bahrain International Airport is located in Muharraq, 7 km from Manama. Bahrain has been a pioneer of civil aviation: The aerodrome was built in 1932 and received its first flight that year. From London, the 24 passengers of the Handley Page H.P .42 biplan took several days to reach their destination. Today, the airport has seen over 8 million passengers. A subway project, currently under study, should allow travelers to reach Manama more easily. The airport is relatively small, compared to other hubs in the region, and the arrival and departure are very easy. But this may change since work to renovate and expand the airport is currently at work. A new terminal is expected to emerge by 2020. Bahrain's new airport aims to host 14 million passengers per year, compared with 9 million at the moment.
