KING FAHD'S CAUSEWAY
This bridge links Bahrain to Saudi Arabia, uniting the island to the mainland. The work began in 1981 to give the archipelago a ground exit. This pharaonesque project culminated in this splendid 25 km bridge, consisting of 12,570 m of dikes - divided into seven sections - consisting of 7,770,000 m ³ of sand consolidated by 3,140,000 m ³ of sand. These kilometers of dikes are interrupted in five places by 12,430 m of bridges built with reinforced concrete, including the 536 batteries, and by the 1500 m of road on Umm an Nasan. Today, the bridge is very used, especially the weekend, when the Saudis come from good weather on the beaches of the archipelago. Since Saudi Arabia does not give a tourist visa, it will be difficult for you to cross the road on its side. For Muslims in Bahrain who wish to make pilgrimage to Mecca, the bridge is the ideal gateway.
