SHAIKH SALMAN BIN AHMED AL FATEH FORT
Built in 1812, the fort bears the name of its founder Shaikh Salman Bin Ahmed Al Fateh, son of Emir Al Khalifa, who took the archipelago in 1783. Royal residence, the fortress was the heart of the Bahraini Hakims power until 1869, before moving to Muharraq. Some sources suggest that the forts were built on the ruins of a Persian outpost. Unfortunately, the fort is empty, but you can walk through the rooms and the ramparts. From the towers overlooking the castle, you will discover a splendid view over the Hunanaiyah valley. Beside the fort, a contemporary pavilion has been built, welcoming a small museum in honor of Al Khalifa, you will discover archives, royal artifacts and presentations on family traditions such as falconry or Arab thoroughness.
