MUSEUM FOR RESISTANCE TOURISM
Go there and contact
Founded by Hezbollah, a Shia political party and paramilitary group with a strong presence in southern Lebanon, this museum on the resistance and the war against Israel in 1982 is perched on Mlita Hill, precisely where the mujahideen of what would become Hezbollah were gathered. Visitors can see where they slept, cooked, and the weapons and equipment used to fight the Israeli occupation. An eye on the surrounding hills is enough to imagine the battles. In terms of architecture, the museum is very well done and never crowded. At the beginning of the visit, an English documentary briefly contextualizes and retraces the history of the conflicts in the region, between Israel and Palestine, and then focuses on the occupation of southern Lebanon. Throughout the museum, the explanations are translated into English. The visit then leads to the impressive weapons room. The rest takes place mainly outside, in the middle of the bunkers and tunnels of the time. The museography is particularly well cared for and the visit is fascinating. For all those interested in geopolitics and living history, this perspective on a conflict whose embers have never been extinguished is very instructive. On the other hand, we must not forget Hezbollah's propaganda skills and that the history shown here is very much in favour of the Shiite current.
