RENO-BENTEEN DEFENSE SITE
This site, which includes a stone memorial and several markers, allows us to trace the main lines of the battle delivered by Major Marcus Reno and his 3 companies of 170 men. The isolated attack of Major resulted from a decision by General Custer to divide his forces into several groups to beset the village with several strategic points. Unsupported, as Custer predicted, the troops were undernumbered and weak, forcing them to retreat. You can see, among other things, the location of the hospital that was drawn up at the end of the fight to recover the wounded, or the hill where the men took refuge.
