GARNET GHOST TOWN
A return to the time of conquest of the West and the gold rush in this ghost town near Missoula. In the late nineteenth century, Garnet was a thriving mining town that welcomed hotels, saloons, shops, a school, laundry and even hairdressing salons. But in 1912, almost half of the city disappeared in a fire and never rebuilt. About thirty years later, the city was deserted. Finally, restoration work started with private donations and Garnet became a historic site open to the public. Today the result is fascinating and visitors can walk around the city with 30 historic buildings. Some of them have been fully rehabilitated and visited from within. An essential experience to revive the deep West of the nineteenth century.
