GROTTE DE SYKIAS
Largest in Cyprus: 200 m long and 5/10 m wide. Visitor-friendly for 70 m. Beautiful limestone concretions.
Located 240 m above sea level, the "fig tree" cave (İncirli Mağarası, Σπήλαιο Συκιάς/Spilaio Sykias) is the largest in Cyprus: 200 m long and 5/10 m wide. The 70 m long cave, which is open to visitors, is home to beautiful limestone concretions (stalactites, "cauliflower" formations) and owes its name to a fig tree at the entrance. Access by carriage road from the hamlet of Platani/Çınarlı ("plane tree" in Greek and Turkish), following the "Fig Cave" signs. Café at the entrance. Beautiful views from the hill.
