BANDHAVGARH SAFARIS
Circuit safaris in Badhavghar National Park to discover the open areas of Tala, Magadhi, Khitauli and Panphata
Bandhavgarh National Park is divided into six distinct zones. The areas open to the public vary depending on several factors (animal preservation, site preservation, etc.). At the time of our visit in February 2023, the open areas were: Tala, Magadhi, Khitauli and Panphata. These areas are accessible for morning and afternoon game drives. The Bandhavgarh Fort area is now closed to visitors until further notice. The Forest Department, in charge of the management of the park, allows only a certain number of vehicles(gipsy jeeps and canters) to circulate in the park. Thus, 25 vehicles are allowed per hour in the Tala zone, 35 vehicles in the Khitauli and Panphata zones, and 66 vehicles in the Magadhi zone. Precise circuits have been traced within each zone in order to distribute the traffic. This quasi-military organization makes it possible not to be all at the same place at the same time. You can therefore enjoy your safari in relative peace. Elephants from Karnataka (!) have now taken up residence in some areas of the park, but they are difficult to see, as they avoid tiger territories. Special safaris are organized to observe the pachyderms in their natural habitat. The National Park covers an area of 105 km² and a buffer zone of 400 km2. The density of tigers is such that the chances of seeing them are high. Locals claim that it only takes two safaris to catch a glimpse.
