NEANDERTHAL MUSEUM
The museum is close to where workers discovered fragments of the skeleton of a Neanderthal in the middle of the nineteenth century. It is one of the most modern in Europe and traces human history, from its beginnings in African savannah more than four million years ago to life in the great metropolises nowadays. Audioguides are available in German and English, explanatory texts in 13 languages. At the end of the exhibition, you are invited to take a souvenir photo in the middle of the human family composed of our ancestors and contemporaries. The archeological site is within walking distance of the museum, about 400 meters away. Hunting reserves of the ice age are also part of outer space. Not to miss: the art trail. The ten sculptures on the route invite to reflect on the nature of man. The evolution trail of almost five kilometers, with the establishment of industrial sculptures, sculptures and monuments, on the theme of human evolution, links the city center of Mettmann and the museum.
