Bring time. Last entry about 17.25 but you need 2h to make the most off it.
I really recommend the Cafe. Delicious is an understatement. Great ambience and hospitality. And really nice staff

I really enjoyed this place. It feels like wandering straight into the rainforest, full of interesting insects and plants. If you have kids it's also a great place for them as there are slides, stepping stones etc.
The gift shop is also wonderful I bought some head soap and body soap all natural and smells amazing.

For just 28 RM (03/24) we entered one of our highlights of 2 weeks in Malaysia.
There's a free audio guide on the App "SmartGuide" with a 180 minute tour or the option for a 50 minutes express tour. The quality of the audio guide was superb and one of the best I've ever listened to.
On my mind the garden offers something for everyone: botanical scholars, families, people in search for good photo spots and simple nature lovers. On any case you learn something or spend a wonderful day here.
There is free parking across and a beautiful hidden beach there.

A 5-Star Experience at Tropical Spice Garden with Chef Tarina
I have taken a number of classes at TSG led by Chef Tarina. Her enthusiasm for food is contagious, and her clear instructions ensured that everyone felt comfortable and confident in the kitchen. The class size was perfect, allowing Tarina to provide personalized guidance and answer all our questions.
Chef Tarina’s ability to weave cultural stories into the cooking process created a journey of discovery filled with laughter and a deeper appreciation for the Nyonya culinary heritage.
I highly recommend Tropical Spice Garden to anyone visiting Penang.

Beatrice Goh ("Tummy") gave us a wonderful tour of the Tropical Spice Garden. Very impressed with her knowledge of the plants and Penang which she shared with great humour. Thanks Beatrice, so lucky to have you as our guide for the 9.30am tour, we thoroughly enjoyed our time and found it very interesting. All the staff were very friendly and helpful as well. Fish spa in the running stream was fun and herbal tea was refreshing. Even though we didn't see the monkeys (macaque and dusky leaf monkeys) it was good to know they live in the wild in this piece of paradise, definitely worth the visit. Lyn & Richard, Australia

Went on a Saturday for their cooking class. First you get a guided tour where we learned a lot about different spices and herbs. Lots of interesting information.
Then we were handed over to the cooking crew for class. Only 4 of us today, so it was a nice small class. We made Ayam Masak Hitam(black chicken) with Lemang (sticky rice), and also Urab (coconut anchovy salad?).
Deliciousness. Even my very American husband was successful! Recommend doing a Malaysian cooking class. In fact, I think we will try to do a cooking class in every country we visit haha.

There is a Poor lonely Duck (goose) sitting alone somewhere near the Cafe on the ground floor, also quite close to the ticketing counter. Please send this duck to some other places where there are more ducks for her company so that this duck wont be alone. Ducks are not safe here as many other ducks killed by Python

So much fun! I learned a lot about spices and spice trade history in the garden tour. And the cooking class gives you in person knowledge about how to make curry paste and mortar and pestle YouTube!
You can't get that expert knowledge about the texture and sound and smell on youtube!
