VISOVAC MONASTERY
Franciscan monastery on an islet in the Krka River with an archaeological collection, a museum of sacred art and a historical library.
Located on a small island in the Krka River, in a green setting, this Franciscan monastery appears as the jewel of the park. Tourists and pilgrims can reach it from all sides by boat, but the shortest crossing is from Brištane. The old part (church, cloister and communal areas) was built in the 15th century. During the Ottoman invasions in the 17th century, the buildings were burnt down. It is a Renaissance and Baroque architectural ensemble of great elegance. The monastery houses an archaeological collection, a museum of sacred art and a historical library.
