TATEIWA SUSPENSION BRIDGE

Completed in 2009, this magnificent 140-metre-long suspension bridge crosses the Kinugawa River at an altitude of some 40 metres. The view of the river's rapids and the surrounding mountains is impressive, especially in the fall when the mountain is covered in ochre and orange colours. Tateiwa means "shield rock", as the mountain facing the bridge rises, strong and solid, to protect the river flowing at its feet. This highly scenic bridge is worth a small detour if you go to the spa.
