PALACIO DE LOS MANRIQUE DE LARA
This Renaissance style palace was built by Garci-Fernández Manrique de Lara, a friend and councilor of Charles V, and was built on a dominant monticle, following the acquisition of the Señorío de Pasarón by Manrique de Lara in the first half of the sixteenth century (construction of the palace starts in 1531). First of all, it will notice its modest front façade of a stone balustrade divided into three parts by cylindrical columns. On the southern facade, there is the presence of a balustrade this time divided by five pilasters decorated with a pillow decorated with figures. In the upper palace, there is also a long gallery of arches. The originality of this secondary residence, however, lies in the construction of five stone chimneys that dominate the building of their imposing proportions and could illustrate a desire to translate the power of the seigneurial family into architecture. In the heart of the palace, characterized by its Renaissance staircase, its large rooms and decorated lounges, including the "salón de los azulejos", as well as its large cellars serving as a foundation for the building, would be born the legendary love between Magdalena, descendent of Manrique de Lara and Juan d 'Austria, illegitimate son of Charles Quint then removed nearby in the monastery of Yuste.
