Opened in October 2005, the Museum of Ceramic Art of Hyōgo has been designed in the spirit of an ecomuseum, respecting the surrounding nature and the inhabitants of the potters' village below. The permanent collection presents ancient ceramics, most of which come from the private collection of Hiroshi Tanaka. Temporary exhibitions highlight both ancient works and the work of contemporary artists presenting a new approach to this art.
