It's the old merchant district of the city. There are beautiful traditional wooden houses from the Edo period, more than 500 metres long. Some of them are still small shops today. One takes pleasure in entering there to admire the magnificent architecture of the time and to make some purchases. The district has been labelled as a Group of Traditional Buildings of National Importance. Although this is not the most famous neighbourhood, getting lost away from the crowds is an enjoyable experience. Having a piece of Japan to yourself.
