KISHIWADA DANJIRI KAIKAN
When visiting Kishiwada, it is highly recommended to visit this museum which presents the Kishiwada danjiri festival, the very soul of the city. The visit begins with the projection of a film showing images shot during the festivities. Three danjiris are on display, including one of the oldest in existence. As you approach, you can admire magnificent wooden bas-reliefs. We then pass through rooms in which reduced models of danjiris and various costumes are presented, then a 4D projection room. The shots from the danjiris give the impression of being on the tank, an impression reinforced by the trembling ground under our feet. Just next to it, a life-size danjiri roof, on which we can try to reproduce the acrobatics performed during the festivities. It is not uncommon to see children having fun there. Looking at them, one realizes the importance of this festival in the life of the city's inhabitants. Indeed, children can, from the age of 9 years old, participate in the festivities and pull the floats. In the last exhibition hall different parts of the danjiri are exhibited. One can admire the work of the craftsmen, the styles of engraving and the motifs which evolve according to the periods. The tools used for this work are also shown to visitors. The explanations in English are very detailed and one quickly feels carried away by the spirit and the unique atmosphere of the festival.
