HISTORIC RANCH TOURS

One of the attractions not to miss in summer is the visit of historic ranches organized by the Visitor Center's rangers. The visit focuses on the difference between a ghost town and a historical ranch. It also traces the adventures of gold researchers and all those who have made the history of the park. The occasion, among other things, is to return to the early cowboys and legends of the Far West, but also to understand how the history of farming continues to exert influence at the present time. Every week a new ranch is honored.
Mason-Lovell Ranch. The ranch used to be about 25,000 head of cattle scattered throughout the Bighorn basin.
Ewing-Snell Ranch. This old family ranch was founded by Erastus Ewing, an emigrant who came to make fortune in gold mines and eventually turned to livestock farming.
Cedarvale Dude Ranch, a governor of the governor of New York, W. Doc Barry, attracted a beautiful world in holiday, including President Teddy Roosevelt.
Caroline Lockhart Ranch, owned by journalist and novelist Caroline Lockhart, was famous in the early 1900 s.
