SAN JUAN XAR
Sacred cave with a fountain dedicated to John the Baptist in the forest of Igantzi, where the lamiaslamiak, mythological nymphs, were venerated
In the heart of the Igantzi forest lies this sacred cave dedicated to John the Baptist. It is the only forest in Spain where one can meet the common charm, a tree that is quite common in the forests of Central Europe. Before it was dedicated to the cult of John the Baptist, the "lamiaslamiak", mythological nymphs living in the trees of the region, were venerated in this cave. Of note is the three-sprayed fountain (four during rainy periods), whose waters are said to cure skin infections.
