Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the last break of the fast. Muslims who have observed the month of fasting are forgiven for the sins committed during the past year. The year can begin as virtuously as possible and under good auspices. It is one of the most vibrant holidays in the Muslim calendar. Eid-ul-Fitr is experienced as a time of charity and sharing: families go to feast and eat mugalgal, children are given gifts and it is customary to make donations to the needy.
