MOSQUEE AL RAJHI
Mosque with capacity for up to 18,000 men and 2,500 women, comprising a prayer hall and library.
Despite its austere, understated architecture, the Al Rajhi mosque is very popular. It's also one of the country's largest: it can accommodate up to 18,000 men and 2,500 women. The prayer hall is housed under a huge dome lit by a chandelier of over 250 lamps. Friday prayers are filmed and projected onto large screens. The imam's preaching is subtitled in 7 languages, reflecting the diversity of Saudi Arabia's population. The mosque also boasts an extensive library with thousands of books.
