This building dates from 1929, undertaken under colonial administration, it was used as an administrative centre by the British. Nigeria's very first President, Nnamdi Azikiwe, gave a speech there in 1955, once the country had become a Federation, while the building is now occupied by the local government of Ibadan. Perched on the heights of the city, it was built over four years, and the seven columns that underlie it represent the seven hills of Ibadan.
