CASTELLO ARAGONESE
Château Le Castella to discover the drawbridge, the remains of the village once inhabited by soldiers and the bastions.
Built in the 15th century on an islet 120 meters from the mainland, this castle was the seat of a garrison responsible for defending the Calabrian coast against enemy attacks from the sea. The visit goes through the different spaces of the fortress: the drawbridge, the remains of the village once inhabited by the soldiers, the small chapel and the bastions offering a view of the coast. In one room, the Plexiglas floor reveals, several meters deep, the remains of walls made of large stone blocks dating from the time of Magna Graecia (around 400 BC).
