The museum dedicated to Liberty Bell is housed in the church where the bell was hidden during the War of Independence, the Zion German Reformed Church, when the British occupied Philadelphia. The Independents, fearing that the invader would melt the bell to make ammunition, a common practice during the war, decided in 1777 to take it by train to Allentown. The Liberty Bell made its return to Philly in June 1778, after the departure of the English. The museum, which shows a replica of the Liberty Bell, returns to this episode, among other things.
