Geographically and financially diametrically opposed to Chameleon Hill Lodge, the Mutanda Eco Community Centre offers low-cost accommodation on the shores of the lapping waters of the lake. A few basic rooms, a viewing platform ten meters above the shore and a restaurant complete the picture. Environmental and tourism awareness programs are also offered to around 100 children each year.

Peccato.

Lovely place to stay beside Lake Mutanda. Rooms have beautiful views of the lake. The staff are friendly and they offer a range of activities.

My experience was a disaster here. First were their high prices for so little. My cabin needed a lot of improvements yet they still wanted $40. There wasn’t even a sink to wash hands. No screens in windows. Floor was lopsided with sharp something on shower floor. Old linoleum covers some of the floor. Walls are barely finished after 20 years of operation. They just got new tents through a grant, these rent for $50. A bare tent with a bed, under a roof. I had wanted to stay for 5 nights but stayed for 1. No chargers in the room, no wi fi though they brought me a device to use. And the food service was awful. I’d asked for a 6:30 dinner and it came at 8:15, not even what we’d asked for. Yes the site is beautiful on Lake Mutanda but not the buildings. Fix it up and make it worth its cost.
