SALÓN DE LAS COLUMNAS
Restored building with high walls and columns with beam and crossbeam framework, dated between 600 and 750 AD.
It is the largest restored building on the site, set in a square measuring 41 by 30 metres. Its walls and columns reach a height of five meters. The remains of the 12 flat stone columns that stand here supported a framework of beams and crossbeams. During the fire that destroyed the building, the roof collapsed to the ground, leaving the charred remains of earth on top of the wooden beams for posterity. Carbon-14 analysis indicates that the building was built between 600 and 750 AD.
