MÓN SANT BENET
Món Sant Benet is a large cultural and tourist complex managed by the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera and organised around the Sant Benet de Bages monastery. This former Benedictine abbey, founded in the 10th century, has been redesigned several times: two interactive and olfactory routes take you through the monastery's thousand years of history, from the Middle Ages to the modern era. The first follows the monumental spaces of the monastery, which has preserved its Romanesque church and cloister, jewels of Catalan Romanesque architecture. The second follows in the footsteps of the painter Ramon Casas, whose family had transformed the rooms above the cloister into a magnificent summer residence in the modernist style.
The Fundació Alícia. Only a few metres from the old stones of the monastery stands the modern building of the Fundació Alícia. This research centre on technological innovation applied to cooking was founded by chef Ferran Adrià and cardiologist Valentí Fuster. Its objective is to promote the Catalan agri-food and gastronomic heritage and promote healthy eating, and it organises a wide range of activities for families.
The Camí de Sant Benet, a historic path popular with walkers, connects the centre of Sant Fruitós to the monastery and can be walked or cycled (3 km).
