CARRER SANT JOAN
Go there and contact
It is the oldest street in the village, lined with stone arches and remarkable stately homes, like the Cal Cavaller mansion, which belonged to one of Monistrol's most famous families, the Riusec family. Legend has it that one of the members of this family, linked to the Consell de Cent and the Generalitat, discovered the Virgin of Montserrat in Cova Santa. At the other end of the street, near Plaça del Bo-Bo, Cal Gibert has an old oil mill and preserves the old entrance arches of the building. Finally, in the centre of the alleyway, there are two beautiful Gothic windows from the former Priory Palace and the coat of arms of Santa Maria de Ripoll Abbey, which once controlled the Montserrat Monastery.
