FESTA DELS TRAGINERS

This festival of national tourist interest pays tribute to the traditional trade of traginer (muleteer), those men who transported goods, including the precious salt of Cardona, on the back of animals and throughout the Llobregat valley. The origin of the festival dates back to the blessing of the carriages placed under the protection of Saint Anthony, a parade that gradually took on the appearance of a great celebration. In Balsareny, every Sunday before the carnival, muleteers perpetuate this age-old tradition by marching through the streets and carrying all kinds of goods.
