A strategically built 10th century fortified building in ruins, strategically located at the top of a hill to the south of the city, it controlled access to the Llobregat valley. Adjoining, the 11th century church dedicated to Sant Esteve i Sant Sebastià is a jewel of Romanesque art: it prides itself on being one of the few Romanesque churches with a high circular plan in Catalonia and, moreover, it is the largest of its kind.
