FESTA DEL TIÓ

A symbolic figure of Catalan folklore, the Tió de Nadal (Christmas log in French) is a wooden log with small legs, a wide smile and a red bartina on the head. From December 8, the day of the Immaculate Conception, the children feed the hollow log until Christmas, when, hitting it on the head with a stick, they order Nadal's Tió, in song, to "shit" candy from them (literal translation!). In Mura, all the logs decorated by the children are displayed in the village's alleys and many workshops and other activities are organised throughout the month of December.
