While the vast majority of Catalonia's altarpieces and other sacred ornamentation disappeared in flames during the civil war, Santa Maria d'Oló managed to preserve its Baroque altarpieces: that of Església vella d'Oló (undoubtedly the most remarkable), in the oldest part of the city, and those of the church of Sant Joan d'Oló - a set of three altarpieces - located 6 km from the village.
