This imposing building, with its immaculate white facade, is the oldest hotel in the country to have remained in continuous operation since its opening in 1766. During the War of Independence, George Washington and Alexander Hamilton slept within the walls of the inn, which was then called Bogardus Tavern. More recently, Franklin D. Roosevelt gave the closing speech of his presidential campaign on the hotel porch. By staying here, you take a step back in time and immerse yourself in part of the country's history.

Historic Inn has great location, great dining and great ambiance. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Wonderful experience all around! TWO THUMBS UP!

We stayed in the Firehouse Suite with the king sized bed. The room is located above the Rain Spa on Market street so we constantly heard their music starting at 8am. You have to enter via the parking lot and it’s a flight of wooden stairs outside. The suite was spacious but the shower-head definitely needs to be replaced in the bathroom. For the price I’d probably stay someplace more upscale.

We had lunch at this historic structure. That would be enough for a fun lunch. But the food was great. I had a yummy arugula salad with cranberries and apples. We can’t wait to go back next
