IGLESIA DE SANTA MARÍA DE MEDIAVILLA
Gothic church dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, built as a funeral chapel for Alvaro de Benavente in Medina de Rioseco
Flanked by a beautiful baroque tower, this gothic church dates from the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Upon entering, one is immediately struck by the imposing main altarpiece, dedicated to the Ascension of the Virgin and made largely by Juan de Juni. To the left, the Chapel of Los Benavente impresses with its polychrome sculptures by Jerónimo de Corral and its many details. Dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, it was built as a funeral chapel for Alvaro de Benavente.
