BASÍLICA DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL ROMERO
Baroque church perched in the upper part of the city, which houses an Italianate altarpiece by Pedro Díaz de Oviedo
Perched on the upper part of the city, this 17th-century Baroque church was built on the ruins of a Romanesque temple that disappeared in a fire in 1684. From the original building, a chapel and its Italianate altarpiece, the work of Pedro Díaz de Oviedo, remain, as well as a polychrome statue of the Virgin del Romero, which is the object of an annual procession. Another remarkable element is the access gallery from the lower town, built in the 18th century in a Baroque style.
