PASTORATE - RECTORY
It is in this house built in 1764 by the municipality, that the Van Gogh family lived between 1882 and 1885
The Van Gogh family lived here between 1882 and 1885, while Vincent lived here between December 1883 and May 1884. The house was built in 1764 by the municipality, which was obliged to provide accommodation for the pastor of the Reformed Church. The painter's first studio was at the back of the house, and can be seen from the path to the left of the house. Note the magnificent, large garden. Van Gogh painted here on several occasions. It's a renowned, opulent place that contrasts with the often miserable image Van Gogh disseminated.
