IGREJA DA MISERICÓRDIA
A small museum of sacred art exhibiting works that illustrate the religious presence since 1516.
This church was founded in the 16th century, replacing a former chapel. Its architecture is reminiscent of the Manueline style, with a beautiful portal featuring winged-head capitals, creating a contrast with the rest of the classically built architecture. The portal is not original; it is that of the Espírito Santo church, demolished in 1911. The same building is also home to a small museum of sacred art, displaying works illustrating the religious presence since 1516, as well as the activities of the Misericordia Civil Hospital.
