This large fortress can be discovered on the road to Brixlegg.
Probably built in the 12th century in the heart of the Inn valley, Lichtenwerth Castle is the only moated castle in the Tyrol. Its interior features two towers (east and west), a palace, a Gothic chapel and battlements. Little enlarged since the 14th century, it retains most of its Romanesque appearance. Since 1543, it has remained in the hands of related families. Today, the castle can only be visited from the outside.
