MOHONK MOUNTAIN HOUSE
Mohonk Mountain House is not quite an ordinary establishment. To begin with, those who wish to stay there cannot simply book a room for the night: you must buy a package giving access, in addition to the night, to two or three meals and the many facilities offered by this gigantic resort. Sports lessons, swimming pool, skiing, boating, fishing, hiking, ice rink, and all kinds of activities (to discover on the online calendar), it is not only a good night's sleep that this establishment offers you, it is a real experience. Everything is done so that we do not feel the need to leave the resort, which will be very difficult to walk around. Nature is omnipresent and the estate includes a lake and a forest. When it was founded in 1869, Mohonk Mountain House was a small family inn founded by the Smiley brothers. Over the years, the establishment of ten chambers has grown to 259 today. Important personalities have stayed there, including John D. Rockefeller and Bill Clinton. To learn more about the history of the award-winning site, guided tours of the main building are offered daily to guests.

But the noise is loud from a lot of kids running around, and it doesn't feel very restful like a spa should .
Fitness classes are terrible- you shouldn't expect to get a good workout in. And you can't expect them to give you the class that was posted. The yoga instructor decides that she wasnt going to do the class listed and does something entirely different. Also they have very few classes here when compared to Canyon Ranch.
If you are looking for a restful and relaxing vacation "away from the real world " DO NOT GO HERE. Go to Canyon Ranch in Lennox , MA. They have a significantly greater array of fitness classes and spa treatments. And it feels like a spa should - relaxing, peaceful, quiet...
Also the rooms are old, and the food selection is not very varied. Definitely not as good as Canyon Ranch.
The positives are valet staff, the food and location - it is pretty here!
We went when school was on a winter break and there a ton of parents and children.
