ORCHESTRE SYMPHONIQUE DE MULHOUSE
Based at La Filature from the outset, the Orchestre symphonique de Mulhouse offers a wide-ranging program throughout the year: concerts at La Filature in cycles centered on a particular composer, a season at the Temple Saint-Étienne, chamber music concerts at the Théâtre de la Sinne, lyricism with the Opéra national du Rhin and other events with the Scène nationale. Under the current direction of Patrick Davin, the orchestra and its fifty-six musicians continue to develop an important educational program to awaken the public to classical music. It targets schoolchildren, students, a more specific public (prisons, retirement homes, hospitals) and the world of work through works councils. Various concerts and rehearsals are open to schoolchildren. Some concerts take place in other nearby towns, and thanks to the support of the département, many are free of charge. The excellent work of the OSM (and its renowned soloists) is often praised by the specialized press, and is regularly broadcast on radio and television.
