ST. JOHN'S CHAPEL
Chapelle Saint-Jean in Mulhouse, classified as a historic monument since 1893, organizes cultural events and concerts
Let's go back to 1187, a black year for the Latin kingdom of Jerusalem. Sultan Saladin I seized Jerusalem and drove out its Christian occupants. Among the orders coming from Mulhouse, the commanderies of the Teutonic Knights and the Johannites occupied the area in 1249. It was on this occasion that the chapel was consecrated in 1269. A historic monument since 1893, today the chapel is an exceptional setting for cultural events, and concerts have a special resonance thanks to the vibrations of the site.
