ST. STEPHEN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH
Gothic Revival church with stained glass windows illustrating twelve verses from the New Testament
This neighborhood church was built between 1855 and 1860 by Jean-Baptiste Schacre. Built in the neo-Gothic style, the cruciform edifice features stained glass windows illustrating twelve verses from the New Testament. Interestingly, the church was built to accommodate the new workers who had arrived from the surrounding area to work in the city. No other place of this size existed at the time, as Catholic worship was only re-authorized in Mulhouse from 1804 onwards.
