The main building of Mulhouse's Reformed Church, a temple built in 1866.
The Temple Saint-Étienne is the city's main Reformed Church building. Don't let its architectural style fool you, this temple was built in 1866 to replace a 12th-century church. The architect, Jean-Baptiste Schacre, had the good idea of reinstalling the stained glass windows he had salvaged. These date from 1324 to 1351. They depict scenes from both the Old and New Testaments. The tallest Protestant building in France (97 meters), its architecture has earned it the title of Mulhouse's "cathedral".
