TOWN HALL
Mulhouse town hall dating from 1553, home to the Historical Museum, the wedding hall and the burgomasters' coats of arms
When Mulhouse was still free, the Rathaus symbolized the power of the first Mulhouse bourgeoisie. The present building dates from 1553, and the allegories on the facades were painted in 1698 by Jean Gabriel. The2nd floor, built in 1778-1779, underwent numerous exterior restorations. Today, the building houses the Historical Museum, and the upstairs marriage hall features the coats of arms of various burgomasters since the 14th century. Mulhousians are delighted to experience this unique moment in a place steeped in history.
