LA CITÉ MANIFESTE - CITY DISTRICT

A housing estate that was once a textile industrial site with 1,240 cottages for its workers, and now boasts 61 apartments.
The Cité Manifeste was built in 2005 in the Cité district. Pierre Zemp realized the project on the site itself. At the time, an industrialist had built 1,240 houses based on the same model. Pierre Zemp convinced the architect Jean Nouvel to bring together a team of young, well-known French and foreign architects. This success could only be achieved in Mulhouse, a cosmopolitan city. This unique building pays tribute to the town's working-class history.
